Comments
Being active in the forwarding activities, we get in touch with an enormous variety of products being carried by all means of transportation. Consequently for these movements and handling the appropriate technical equipment and right transport methods are expected to be known. Though it proofs that after years intensive improvements still a lot of gaps on the global scale exist.
Situations, material and equipment change, which request review, even after introducing quality systems, show still too many damages occur every day.
Mr. Christian Brans, having the bright knowledge and experience, and active as surveyor for more than 25 years, is very frequently requested to defend our and our clients' interests.
Writing down this knowledge, make it possible to avoid claims and teach new generations, is an honorable initiative. Special is the way of presenting it right to the point in a comprehensible language open for all type of users. The second edition of this book proofs the demand exists.
On his further career we wish Mr. Christian Brans growing success and hopefully the spirit to continue sharing his knowledge with future generations.

The book "Marine Cargo Surveys" , written by Mr Christiaan Brans is destined for those whose professional activity is related to the carriage of goods .
Whether it is for the purpose of loss prevention , for the assessment of risks or for the handling of a claim , a better understanding of how different goods are affected by the dangers of transport , and of how they should be packed , conditioned and treated to endure the transport , is often necessary. This book offers an easy accessible and understandable description of the characteristics of a great variety of goods , the type of damages one can expect and -most important - the way one should react if and when damages occur. When necessary , photo's (often very striking) and drawings have been used to support the text.
Mr. Christiaan Brans is a man who has earned his stripes in the daily practice of cargo survey and his approach in this book goes to show this : it is obvious that he draws from his own experiences as a surveyor, and the angle of attack is one of great practicality and utility.
I am convinced that every surveyor , road haulier, marine insurer , broker , loss adjuster etc. who is looking for information , will be glad to have this book in his or her library .
